Incredible Women
In Her Birdies Bianca Gates

Take a walk in the (stylish) shoes of our Co-Founder and CEO Bianca Gates.

6:30 a.m.

Time to wake up! I can’t start my day without a hazelnut coffee from Noah’s New York Bagels. Even the smell of it in the morning makes me ready for my day. I check my news app on my phone, Instagram and our sales every morning so that I know what’s going on. For a fun look, I pair my feathered trim jeans with the tasseled Robin in black. Playful but easy!

8 a.m.

I drop my kids off at school (which is conveniently just a few blocks from the Birdies office) and get into work before 9 a.m. Sometimes I try to squeeze in a morning workout, but it’s always a struggle!

9:30 a.m.

After catching up on emails, we have our team meetings. This is when I approve designs, review the game plan for the week ahead, and share team updates.

11 a.m.

Our office is directly above the Birdies store on Union Street, so once it opens, I make it a habit to go down and ensure that everything looks good. I love to chat with our customers—it’s amazing what you can learn from them!

We’re all obsessed with the Grilled Corn & Black Bean Taco Salad from Tacko—it’s our team go-to lunch. The dressing is insane!

2 p.m.

Time to run some errands in the neighborhood. I pick up some magazines down the street. My must-reads include ELLE Decor, Fast Company, and Vogue. I also love to pick up some fresh flowers for the office and the store from Le Bouquet. And yes, I can’t resist grabbing an ice cream from Loving Cup on the way back. I don’t shy away from a super feminine look like a pretty sundress with my blush Songbirds.

4 p.m.

Meet with my Co-Founder Marisa to discuss upcoming partnerships, photoshoots, and collections. No two days are ever the same at Birdies. Some days I’m at the office brainstorming with the team, other days I’m traveling all over the country, and there are days that I have meeting after meeting.

7 p.m.

My favorite way to end the day is to meet my family at Perry’s—which is right next door—for dinner. The Phoebe in berry really pops when paired with jeans, a blazer...and a glass of rosé.

8:30 p.m.

Put the kids to bed, catch up with my husband, and follow up on some emails.

11 p.m.

Lights out! Goodnight.
